With an impressive audience of around 160 million viewers, it rivals events like the Super Bowl, which attracts around 120 million viewers. The show features a dazzling array of performances, with lasers, moving LED screens, trusses, and abundant lights. The scale and complexity of Eurovision require reliable and high-quality technology and a highly skilled team to ensure flawless broadcast execution.

Eurovision’s allure extends beyond its massive viewership. It brings together diverse musical acts from across Europe and beyond, each showcasing their unique styles and talents. Over the decades, the stage has been graced by iconic artists such as ABBA, who won in 1974 with “Waterloo,” and Celine Dion, who won in 1988. More recently, artists like Duncan Laurence and Loreen have captured the spotlight, adding to the show’s legacy of musical talent and creativity on a grand scale.

Laser Technology Used for Eurovision Song Contest

For Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Laserimage deployed a fleet of fifteen high-powered RGB lasers. More than 100 zones were made using BEYOND Ultimate to ensure flawless synchronization and safety, preventing interference with dancers, crew, cameras, and the audience. The lasers also featured Pangolin DiscoScan Lenses and Pangolin FB4 control hardware. The show set a world record with the most significant GrandMA setup and the most extensive GrandMA show file ever created. Combined with BEYOND, all contributed to a spectacular and seamless visual performance for those who attended in person and those watching from their TVs.

Laserimage has been using and trusting Pangolin software for almost 25 years now. For this year’s Eurovision, Pangolin’s BEYOND software transformed the stage with Johan Lindell and Love Karlsson at the helm. The software’s advanced timeline programming, zoning capabilities, and precision tools were essential for fine-tuning the laser effects frame by frame, ensuring seamless integration with the show’s fast-paced and intricate performances.

Laser effects played a vital role in several standout moments for this year’s show. Kaleen’s performance of “We Will Rave” showcased a dynamic interplay of laser beams that perfectly complemented the song's high-energy vibe, while Hera Björk’s "Scared of Heights" was enhanced with dramatic laser visuals that captured the song’s emotional intensity.

Laserimage: Crafting Spectacular Laser Shows

This year marked the third consecutive time that Laserimage collaborated with Eurovision, further solidifying themselves as a live TV laser show technology leader. Laserimage’s expertise has been showcased in Eurovision and with high-profile artists and events, including DJ Alan Walker and TIX.
